Great Haseley is a village and a civil parish in South Oxfordshire. The parish includes the hamlets of Little Haseley, Latchford and North Weston and the house, chapel and park at Rycote. Great Haseley has about 200 dwellings. Eighty buildings are designated as listed by Historic England.

The Haseley Archive Group was formed in 2010 from a group of interested people from the Haseleys who wanted to record details of the social and political history of the area.  The Group changed its name in 2017 because of feedback that residents were unsure of its remit.

The group has met monthly since its inception and has put on exhibitions each year at the Great Haseley & District Horticultural Show, the Village fete and various other local events.  It has also held several stand alone one day exhibitions in the village and has hosted a film evening showing the work that had been undertaken on the restoration of Great Haseley Windmill.

Over time, the group has been donated photographs, artefacts, documents and many pieces of local history.  It has made several audio recordings of local residents of their past history of the village and the surrounding areas.  It is also the custodian of the Parish Chest on behalf of the Parish Council which contains documents relating back before the formation of the Parish Council.  The group has produced a publication “Lives from the Haseley War Memorial” which was distributed to all residents and local libraries and the Imperial War Museum.  The most recent publication "A Walk around Great Haseley" has now been produced and is available at St Peter's Church and in the Plough Inn.

The project now being undertaken is the recording of all of the inscriptions on the graves in the church and the churchyard.  This is quite a mammoth task and over the summer of 2019 we have succeeded in recording 198.  However there is approximately 250 more to go.  Once these have all been recorded, photographed and plotted onto a map, a CD will be produced to allow others to see the work we have undertaken.
